Vacant buildings to be transformed into community facilities

A former bakery, a vacant garda station and a disused schoolhouse are among 24 derelict and vacant sites nationwide that will be given a new lease of life thanks to a €4.5 million funding boost.

Local Action Groups in counties Carlow and Tipperary were announced today as the first two local development strategies (LDS) approved to deliver the 2023-2027 LEADER programme.

The latest tranche of funding under the Community and Voluntary Energy Support Scheme (CVESS) has provided an additional €438,000 to 166 organisations nationwide. The payments provide a one-off contribution towards increased energy bills for 2022, and will issue to the organisations immediately.
