Culture Night, the annual nationwide celebration of culture and the arts in Ireland, returns on September 22 for its 18th year, with a full programme of events for all ages and interests.

The Department of Rural and Community Development has announced details of when the main capital investment schemes will be opening in 2023.

The 2023 SuperValu TidyTowns competition was launched this week in Trim, Co Meath, which was crowned Ireland’s tidiest town last year. The competition is familiar to all, as it celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. However, alongside the main event, there are an additional 14 sponsored Special Awards, with prize money awarded to initiatives focused on improving local communities.

Managers in the community and voluntary sector are warning of a crisis in the recruitment and retention of staff, as salaries in the sector have stagnated due to lack of funding.
