Cork, a community network has harnessed the will of individual citizens to make a difference, by breaking down big issues into smaller, accessible projects with tangible results at local level.

Tidy Towns groups seeking more young volunteers for 2024

Entries are now open for the 2024 SuperValu Tidy Towns competition, marking the 66th consecutive year of the event.  Last year, 880 entries were received, with more than 30,000 volunteers working across 1,000 active Tidy Towns groups in towns and villages nationwide.

New project to retrofit homes in rural counties passed over by private sector providers

Private sector companies are not beating down the doors in County Leitrim to convince householders to retrofit their homes. Nor is it happening in neighbouring rural counties. In the meantime, the earth is burning up due to climate change and householders are losing out on a chance to save on energy bills.

Thousands up for grabs in Tidy Towns Special Awards

The 2023 SuperValu TidyTowns competition was launched this week in Trim, Co Meath, which was crowned Ireland’s tidiest town last year. The competition is familiar to all, as it celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. However, alongside the main event, there are an additional 14 sponsored Special Awards, with prize money awarded to initiatives focused on improving local communities.
