No Name Club seeks volunteers nationwide

Share

If you would like to volunteer with or set up a No Name Club in your area you are invited to attend an informational webinar about Ireland's network of alcohol-free youth clubs on Thursday, July 16 (7.30pm).

The organisation is expanding and needs more volunteers for existing and new clubs. Volunteers of all ages from 18 upwards are welcome. For every five volunteers who come forward, the club can create space for 20 additional young members.

There are currently 21 clubs across the country, catering to around 500 members. They engage 15 to 18-year-olds in fun weekly alcohol-free activities and longer-term projects – in areas the young people choose themselves.

Popular activities include discos, talent shows, quiz nights, guest talks, outdoor activities and national gatherings such as the annual Youth Awards Gala Dinner Ball. European exchange students volunteering with the clubs have said they wish they had something similar back home — a reflection of how unique the clubs are.

The July 16 webinar is part of a series of information sessions the No Name Club has been running this summer. Those who cannot make the date can visit nonameclub.ie for more details on how to get involved.
